Sarah Huckabee Sanders swipes at Jill Biden in RNC speech

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) invoked first lady Jill Biden, a rare target for GOP attacks, during her speech at this week’s Republican convention.

Sanders, who briefly served as former President Trump’s press secretary, recounted taking her son to work one day while serving in the White House. She compared her experience to that of the first lady’s with President Biden.

“When I was President Trump’s White House press secretary, I got the chance to take my 4-year-old son up to ‘Bring Your Kid to Work Day,’” Sanders said Tuesday from the main stage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, knocking the incumbent amid concerns about his age and fitness.
“Much like Jill now drags Joe to ‘Bring Your Husband to Work Day’,” Sanders added, drawing loud applause.

Some conservatives have attacked Jill Biden and claimed she wants to hang onto power amid discussions about whether the president should remain atop the Democratic ticket.

Sanders’s speech was lauded even by those on the left as an uplifting and personal one, with Democratic strategist Van Jones saying the Arkansas governor gave “the speech of the night.”

Day 2 of the convention included speeches from many high-profile Republican figures — including Senate candidates, House leadership and former rivals of the former president and those who were on Trump’s VP shortlist. The former president named Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), who will speak Wednesday evening, as his running mate Monday
