Boy, 7, Found Dead After Devastating Hurricane Helene — His Last Words Revealed

Hurricane Helene has taken a devastating toll, claiming at least 135 lives, with the Carolinas hardest hit. Among those lost were 7-year-old Micah Drye and his grandparents in Asheville, North Carolina. They were swept away by floodwaters after seeking refuge on a rooftop. Although Megan Drye, Micah’s mother, survived, she tragically lost her son and parents in the disaster.

Megan’s sister, Jessica Drye Turner, shared the heartbreaking story online, recounting Micah’s final words: “Please help me!” She expressed her grief and faith, stating, “New grief and strong faith. New motto.” Micah’s body was later found about a quarter mile from where Megan had been rescued.

A GoFundMe page was created by Megan’s other sister, Heather Kephart, to support Megan after losing everything. The page includes a final photo of Micah smiling in a Jurassic World T-shirt, taken by his grandmother before the tragedy.

As communities continue to recover, the Drye family’s loss represents just one of many caused by the storm. In the face of such devastation, the resilience of families like theirs will be crucial for healing.
