America’s Got Talent has always attracted child performers, whether they’re showcasing their singing, dancing or other talents. One youthful entrant into the competition this season who is almost certainly one to watch, meanwhile, is Pranysqa Mishra, the Indian-American vocalist who was just nine years old when her audition for the show was shown a few days ago. Pranysqa’s sweet air of confidence and huge vocals made her an instant hit with the crowd and earned her a much-coveted Golden Buzzer.
The song Pranysqa selected for her audition was Ike and Tina Turner’s ‘River Deep – Mountain High,’ a hugely powerful, soulful song that was an unlikely choice for a nine-year-old. But from the second she started to perform, it was clear that she was no ordinary young singer, oozing confidence and singing with such gusto that an audience member was heard commenting on her “big voice” within seconds. By the time Pranysqa reached the chorus, she was belting out the words with pure passion and power.
As many Music Man readers will have guessed by now, and based on the standing ovation Pranysqa received from both the audience and the judges, the reaction to her performance was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone was clearly stunned by the fact that such a huge voice could come from such a small person, particularly judge Heidi Klum who pushed her golden buzzer. As gold confetti tumbled from the ceiling, Pranysqa burst into tears, clearly overwhelmed by the love shown for her performance.
Not that Pranysqa is any stranger to big crowds. Music Man readers who have done their research will know that this gutsy young lady has previously performed the US national anthem at NCAA basketball games, NHL arenas, and the US Open Tennis Championships in front of thousands of people. This powerful clip showcases her national anthem performance at the NBA Miami Heat in 2023, a rendition for which she received thunderous applause and hearty praise from the event’s commentators.
But although Pranysqa is clearly a seasoned vocalist, the subsequent rounds of America’s may prove something of a challenge for her, given that she will be up against many talented adult performers including singers. However, she is clearly a confident young lady with a big voice who knows how to impress an audience, and as such we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us for her subsequent performances.
